Reports To: Emergency Department Coordinator
Status: Part Time
Shift: Rotating days/evenings
Job Schedule: 8 and 12 hour shifts
Weekly Hours: 48-60 very two weeks
Remote Position: No

Job Summary
Provides receptionist services for the Emergency Department and Outpatient treatment area.

Essential Job Functions
Interviews the patient/guardian to accurately obtain and appropriately record the necessary information to complete the admitting process in a courteous and efficient manner.
Provides clerical support on the unit.
Assists nurses and ED providers with patient care and transfers within the hospital and to other facilities.
Acts as a backup for the switchboard operator for breaks.
Other Job Duties:
Assumes responsibility for professional self-development. Participates in in-services, educational programs, unit meetings (attend a minimum of 80% of unit meetings per year), and mandatory meetings
Assist the Coordinator of the ED/OP as needed
Assists in the orientation and development of personnel according to department needs and as directed

Maintenance of a professional appearance.

Requirements
High school graduate or GED equivalent required
Broad background or training in medical office procedures and standards and knowledge of computer software preferred
Able to communicate congenially and in a professional manner with co-workers, families, and physicians
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work independently
BLS required
Cross training required
High quality phone etiquette and customer service skills required
