Position Summary

Employment Specialist provides direct vocational assessment, job development, and job coaching services to participants. The Employment Specialist will participate in identifying needed support to overcome barriers to employment. The foundation of all activities will focus on individual recovery through meaningful community participation, contribution, and membership. 

 

Essential Duties and Functions

  • Providing job support to working program participants 
  • Identify and respond to the needs of the consumers in achieving efficient responses to requests and to eliminate barriers limiting productivity in day-to-day activities 
  • Engage individuals in a trusting and supportive relationship, providing emotional support within professional boundaries 
  • Provide Supported Employment insight and goals with the individual for updated ISP based upon the specific needs of the individual, with the aim of maximizing physical, emotional, and mental health.
  • Assist the individual in reaching the goals identified in the ISP.  
  • Provide emergency on-call coverage in rotation with other team members as needed
  • Provide all forms of job finding and support for individuals pursuing self-employment, as well as traditional jobs 
  • Complete all documentation in a timely manner.  

 

Qualifications

  • 1. In lieu of the above Bachelor's Degree, IDEATE requires a HS Diploma/GED and Employment Support Services credentialing from one of the following upon hire. (Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credential from the APSE, or Professional Certificate in Employment Services from an ACRE-approved trained member or CWIC or WIP-C certification in current standing with the Social Security Administration)
  • 2. Complete staffing assignments as assigned across all vocational domains: Competitive and Self-Employment at required billable productivity levels.
  • 3.  Commitment to Employment First Best Practices
  • 4. Ability to support individuals to develop job skills in competitive employment
  • 5. Drivers' license and daily access to a vehicle

 

Working conditions

This position is set in an office environment as well as out in the community while supporting program participants. While performing the duties of the job, employees are frequently required to stand, walk, lift, and reach. The position requires travel throughout the community supported by the program.
