Job Description - Enrichment Program Specialist (Part-Time)

About Us

The Helix School serves children and young adults with mild to moderate autism, ages 5–22, from across the Bay Area. Our mission is to nurture each student’s strengths while supporting their developmental, sensory, and emotional needs. We’re expanding our extracurricular programming—including after-school offerings, weekend events, and summer camps—and we’re looking for creative, compassionate team members to join us.

Why Join Us?

At Helix, you’ll be part of a mission-driven community that values creativity, inclusion, and joyful participation. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while growing your skills in program design, student support, and collaborative teamwork.

The Role

As an Enrichment Program Specialist, you’ll help design and lead engaging, accessible activities that bring joy and connection to our students outside the academic day. This is a hands-on role where you’ll combine direct student support with creative program facilitation, ensuring every student can meaningfully participate. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that includes educators, clinicians, and program coordinators, working together to create safe, inclusive, and memorable experiences.

Staff who are eligible and willing to serve as drivers for off‑site programming (e.g., field trips, community outings, special events) may take on this optional responsibility. Driving duties are not required but will result in a higher base pay rate.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create and facilitate accessible, relationship-based activities and lesson plans for afterschool programs and special events.

  • Actively engage with students during activities, promoting participation, connection, and joy.

  • Support sensory, communication, and behavioral needs with patience and creativity.

  • Ensure safety during all programs, including community outings.

  • Collaborate with staff and families to adapt programming and share observations.

  • Complete all required onboarding trainings

  • Transportation Support (Optional, but preferred)

    • Safely transport students and staff to and from off‑site programming in school‑approved vehicles.

    • Follow all Helix policies related to transportation, safety, and supervision.

    • Maintain compliance with all driver eligibility requirements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with autistic students or individuals with developmental differences.

  • Background in behavioral support (ABA, RBT, or related experience) strongly preferred.

  • Ability to design and adapt lesson plans for diverse learners.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Creativity, enthusiasm, and reliability.

  • Warm, patient, and steady under pressure.

Driver Eligibility Requirements

  • Provide Proof of a valid CA Drivers License

  • Participate in a School‑provided driver training program.

  • Maintain a clean DMV driving record.

  • Pass a physical examination as required by the Helix School.

  • Participate in the Helix School’s random drug testing program.

Schedule

  • This is an hourly, part-time position

  • Hours vary seasonally and may include:

    • After-school (2:30–5:30 PM)

    • Occasional Saturdays or weekend events

    • Summer camp (July 20 – August 14, 2026) 8am-4pm

    • Walker Creek Overnight Camp (March 2nd-March 3rd)

  • Additional hours may be available for staff who demonstrate strong fit and interest.

Compensation Levels

  • Level 1 ($28–$30/hr): Experience with autistic students; strong professional judgment.

  • Level 2 ($31–$32/hr): RBT or robust behavioral experience; leadership capacity in challenging situations.
