Summary
While upholding the Star Valley Health mission, vision and values this key position is responsible for the seamless patient entry into physician clinics in a timely, efficient and customer focused manner. The admission clerks are often the first contact the patient has with the physician clinics and is entrusted with the responsibility of providing a positive first image to the patient/family. Admitting functions include: collecting complete and accurate demographic, financial and clinical information during registration to facilitate appropriate patient care and reimbursement; responding to patients’ questions or concerns; and informing the patients of their rights, responsibilities, and other required information. This is an at-will position.
Job Duties
Cordially greet external and internal customers that come into the clinic
Answer telephone, interview and screen office callers, make appointments, answer questions and direct callers to the correct department
Verify and collect patient insurance and demographic information prior to their visit with the providers
Collect co-payments and work with Revenue Cycle department as needed for financial questions
Capable of making decisions without continuous direction
Handle confidential and proprietary information on a daily basis
Develop relationships with the providers and the medical staff in the clinics to understand their patient interaction patterns
Check patients out and schedule any needed follow-up visits
Represent Star Valley Health in a positive manner on campus and in the community
Attend meetings and training sessions as scheduled
Perform other duties as assigned or identified

Abilities & Skills:
Professional customer service background including oral and written communication
Strong multi-tasking skills with the ease of changing directions upon request and need
Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient computer skill with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and general internet
Skillful with general office equipment
Experience with EMR software
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, communicate effectively, and demonstrate sensitivity to clients, visitors and staff
Comply with HIPAA and other federal, state and local regulations as well, as maintain highest degree of confidentiality in client and staff matters
Excellent organization and prioritization aptitude
Constant sitting, standing, walking, pushing, bending and reaching throughout the day
Experience & Education:
Two plus years of reception/clerical/general office experience
Post high school diploma or GED
General health care clerical experience
