Esports Coach, (Part-Time) (STF3344)

Responsibilities

Essential Functions –

• Co-lead/manage a competitive Esports program.


• Recruit and retain a roster of at least 25 student athletes.


• Focus on player development, strategic planning, and team performance.


• Partner well with other coaching staff to help students work towards their academic and Esports goals.


• Provide guidance to students on all competition levels of different video games.


• Create opportunities for students to grow and compete in a competitive setting.


• Work well with competition staff and committees for different tournament organizations.


• Manage team logistics, including scheduling and travel arrangements.


• Keep up to date on any changes to tournament, league or HutchCC policies and rules.


• Give tours of the Esports arena for prospective students.


• Maintain Esports equipment and manage the rotation of that equipment.


• Assist students in streaming competition games on Twitch and maintain the Twitch account.


• Maintain the integrity of the program by following all rules and practices set forth by the institution and competition policies.


• Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.


• Comply with HutchCC policies, practices, and procedures. 

Secondary Functions – 

• Post updates on social media of HutchCC Esports members’ games/competitions.


• Mentor team captains on preparing their team for competition. 

Qualifications (Essential): 

• Practical knowledge of video games.


• Knowledge of OBS Studio or another streaming service.


• Know how to use Photoshop or other similar applications.


• Knowledge of computer operations to maintain the function of computers in the arena.


• Able to work late evenings.


• Visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment, tact, and courtesy in difficult situations; ability to understand words and respond effectively/appropriately.


• Mental requirements include ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.


• Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.

HOURLY WAGE and STATUS:

The hourly rate of pay is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration.  This part-time support staff position is at-will, and nonexempt. This position is not eligible for other benefits due to the part-time status.
