The Experience Host is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all museum visitors and monitoring and maintaining museum exhibits and props. This position is primarily responsible for interacting with visitors to ensure they feel welcomed and oriented, monitoring and maintaining the museum’s exhibits, and working cooperatively with a dynamic team to ensure visitors have a positive experience.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
Interact with visitors in a friendly, professional manner and deliver exemplary customer service.
Offer prompts for play and suggestions for interaction to families navigating the Museum’s exhibits and spaces in a self-guided manner.
Support visitor operations and needs outside of the galleries.
Reset, restock, and maintain cleanliness of exhibits throughout the day.
Answer general visitor questions about the museum and exhibits.
Maintain current knowledge of museum programs, services, and events.
Help direct visitors within the museum.
Facilitate and assist with special events, parties, and rentals. Attend required staff meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Position Requirements:
Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to present information clearly and confidently to visitors.

Ability to connect with people of varying abilities and diverse backgrounds.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
Ability to be flexible and focus on solution-building.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Complete basic First Aid training.
Availability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
Education and/or Experience
Minimum 1 year customer service, retail, guest management, or hospitality experience preferred.
Minimum 1 year experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting in another museum or cultural institution, preschool or daycare, after school, summer camp or other family-oriented setting preferred.

High level of public contact.
Regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time, climb ladders and stairs.

Mental stamina for problem solving and dealing with stressful situations; prioritizing multiple tasks; interpreting and applying oral/written instructions.
Ability to bend, carry, reach to the side, front and overhead, push, pull, walk, stand, twist and squat, grab, squeeze are repetitive motions required of the position.
Occasionally exposed to outdoor elements including high and low temperatures, precipitation, and wind.
Regularly exposed to moderate noise in and around exhibits.
Occasionally exposed to small and/or enclosed spaces.
This is a part-time position, 3 days a week, onsite in Everett. The pay is $20.00 an hour. Must be available to work on Saturdays and evenings from 5pm-9:30pm for after hour events.
