Extended Care Coordinator

St. Thomas More Catholic School is seeking an Extended Care Coordinator. The Extended Care Coordinator directs, coordinates and oversees the before and after school program providing educational enrichment opportunities for scholars in grades K-8. The Extended Care Coordinator partners with parents and community partners to provide engaging activities that support self-awareness and expression and establish the self-reflective desire for personal growth.  

The Extended Care Coordinator serves the mission of the Catholic Church by planning, guiding, and evaluating the learning process of the students within the framework of the school's philosophy, organization, and curriculum. The Extended Care Coordinator provides the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities designed to maximize student competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth. The Extended Care Coordinator has decision making responsibilities in keeping with school policies and the Diocesan Schools Administrative Manual.  Must have availability Monday-Friday from 3PM-6PM.

Responsiblities:

• Reviews and implements Extended Care policies and procedures.
• Recruits staff and assists the Principal with screening candidates. 
• Actively supervises, coaches, and encourages staff. 
• Trains staff in Extended Care and emergency procedures. 
• Proactively communicates with staff, parents, and students to ensure the success of the program.  
• Plans and implements activities to meet the physical and social needs of the children in the program . 
• Ensures the safety and security of the scholars.  
• Ensures that children are actively engaged in developmentally appropriate programs and activities.  
• Provides adequate equipment and activities and ensures they are well maintained, safe, and clean at all times. 
• Organizes all materials.  
• Maintains a clean and visually appealing working environment.  
• Prepares and publishes a weekly schedule of Extended Care activities and assigns staff accordingly.  
• Maintains program registrations.  
• Promote the health and wellbeing of all members of our community. 
• Understand and uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church at all times.
• Manage the class by setting clear expectations of behavior, establishing reasonable routines, and promoting self-discipline based on Catholic principles.
• Respond expediently to parent, student, or administrator concerns and ideas.
• Assure that all classroom equipment and materials are safe and well-maintained.

Qualifications

• Participate in and complete required training through professional development opportunities.
• Demonstrate professionalism, including confidentiality, when working with administration, staff, parents and children, while promoting positive relationships and effectively communicating with others.
• Manage and set high behavior standards within the classroom and building.
• Must be physically able to perform the job of a teacher/caregiver of young children.
• Experience working with ages 3 years and above necessary.
• Practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred, but not required.
