Facilities Cleaner/Maintenance

GENERAL PURPOSE

Serves as a facilities cleaner/maintenance person for the Alsip Village Hall building. Performs daily/weekly/monthly cleaning tasks to ensure the building always looks clean and professional for the residents, contractors, business owners, and public visitors. Must take pride in their work, have initiative to address areas of concern if seen, and understand the importance of their position as it is critical to give the public a good impression of our facility, and keeping areas disinfected to protect our staff and visitors. 

COMPENSATION AND HOURS

· Monday – Friday 6:00am – 10:00am

· On call for incidentals, which may include weekends at times

· $19.67 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Responsible for all cleaning related to the Alsip Village Hall, the Alsip Police Department, and various Village Properties.

· Daily cleaning of the restrooms. Duties include, but are not limited to: clean/disinfect all fixtures (counters, sinks, partition doors, toilets, urinals, mirrors), sweeping and mopping tile floors, empty trash, check levels of soap/toilet paper and replacing when needed.

· Daily cleaning of offices throughout the building. This will include emptying trash, wiping down counters, disinfecting door knobs, vacuuming or mopping floors, cleaning desktops and phones.

· Daily cleaning of the various kitchen areas. This includes but is not limited to wiping counters and tables, cleaning the exterior of the appliances, emptying trash

· Change light bulbs.

· Keeping the walkways and sidewalks around the Village Hall and Police Department free of garbage, debris, snow, and ice. 

· Sweeping and mopping of the floors and stairs throughout the building.

· Cleaning and organizing literature displays and bookcases in the public areas.

· Cleaning of the Board Room and Conference Rooms. At times tables and chairs will have to be rearranged for various functions. 

· Daily spot cleaning of all the interior of windows, all entrance doors, and glass windows in various departments in the public areas. Making sure all posted signs are securely in position and alert someone if they become torn or tattered so they can be replaced. 

· Cleaning interior of office windows, window sills, and blinds.

· Maintain a well-organized area of cleaning supplies, and alerting the Department Head when supplies are getting low.

· Be completely responsible for assigned cleaning areas.

· Assist members of the staff when needed to ensure optimal service to guests.

· Any other duties as assigned.

· Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English

DESIRED EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING

· High School diploma, GED, or equivalent

· Valid Driver’s License

· Previous cleaning experience is preferred, but not a requirement 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

· Various Cleaning Supplies, including but not limited to:

o Gloves, protective eye wear

o Brooms, mops, squeegees 

o Vacuums 

o Floor Polisher

o Razor blades

o Paper towels and rags

o Various cleaning and disinfecting chemicals

· Snow shovels, salt spreader, and a snow blower

· Ladders

· Walk, sit, stand, bend, lift, climb ladders and stairs.

· Continual movement throughout shift.

· Subject to lifting 55 pounds with or without assistance. (Bagged Salt)

· Use hands/fingers to grasp, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.

· Use hands are arms to reach depending on the task.
