Denver Language School (DLS) is a public, tuition-free language immersion charter school located in Denver. DLS provides an innovative academic program to reach the highest levels of student achievement through comprehensive language immersion education in Spanish, Mandarin Chinese (K-8) and French (6-8).
Reporting to the Director of External Relations, the Family Liaison Officer at Denver Language School serves as advocate for the perspectives and experiences of families enrolled K-8 and to consult with the Parent Teacher Organization in pursuit of the Mission and Vision of both the PTO and the School. Additionally, the Family Liaison Officer will have responsibilities in-line with Denver Language School’s reporting requirements, serving as an in-take specialist for specific concerns and complaints. As such, we are searching for someone with a strong understanding of the stakeholder perspectives within Colorado public education and a commensurate diplomatic and thoughtful mindset.

Function and Responsibilities:
This employee has three core tasks on which they report to the Director of External Relations:
1. Parent/Teacher Organisation Support;
The appointee will collaborate with the PTO leadership to support community building and inclusion, prioritizing: a culture of participation and engagement with regards to Denver Public Schools Family Surveys, building the structures of the PTO in order to ensure effective onboarding of families to the role of committee member or as ‘Room Parent’; support PTO leadership in developing healthy executive board relationships, role descriptions, and systems.
2. Act as stakeholder engagement and community builder
As a school family liaison, this role will serve as a bridge between families and the school, ensuring open, accessible, and culturally responsive communication. They will act as an engagement officer, actively reaching out to families, organizing inclusive events, and facilitating feedback loops that elevate parent voice. As a community builder, the liaison will foster trust and partnerships among families, staff, and community organizations to create a strong, supportive school culture.

3. Act as an in-take officer:
In service of our community and in pursuit of a culture of inclusion and belonging, DLS is piloting a new intake form on our website to address concerns of bullying or harassment. This process is in development, and we are looking for someone who can monitor this intake form, provide insightful suggestions on how to improve or adjust the form, and manage the process. This person needs to understand the complexity of school eco-systems, including whether a concern can be managed or should be escalated.
