Open to: General Public
Work Week:  Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (up to 900 hours per fiscal year)
Salary: $17.50/hr.
Opening Date: February 26, 2026

Scope of Eligibility
Open to applicants who meet the requirements below.

Description
The Wildlife Permitting Unit is in need of assistance to issue initial permits and renew existing permits for 24+ types of wildlife permits.


Specific to the Position
The candidate will issue permits in accordance with rules and specific permit requirements; The candidate will check for and respond to phone calls, emails, and paper mail, and perform related filing. The candidate may assist unit staff with site inspections and may be required to transport wildlife using an NJDEP vehicle.


Preferred Skilled Set
Possess excellent attention to detail and strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Capable of following Standard Operating Procedures and using applications such as Microsoft Excel and Access.


License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.

Residency
All persons newly hired on or after September 1, 2011, have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey subject to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70), also known as the “New Jersey First Act”.
