Fire Plans Examiner

Aoka is a third-party municipal services provider supporting federal, state, and local governments with code compliance, inspections, and consulting services. We specialize in delivering efficient solutions for building safety, housing standards, and regulatory compliance. Our proprietary software, VertexPlans, streamlines inspection services by integrating plan reviews, field inspections, and reporting into one seamless platform—ensuring faster turnaround times and improved communication for our clients.

We are currently seeking a qualified Fire Plans Examiner to review fire protection and life safety plans for commercial, residential, and public facilities to ensure compliance with applicable fire codes and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review fire protection and life safety plans for new construction, remodels, and tenant improvements to ensure compliance with local, state, and national fire codes.

• Evaluate fire alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems, fire suppression systems, means of egress, fire-resistive construction, and occupancy classifications.

• Identify code deficiencies and provide clear, detailed correction comments and recommendations.

• Complete plan review reports and documentation in accordance with NFPA standards, adopted fire codes, and company guidelines.

• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and municipal authorities to resolve fire code issues.

• Provide technical guidance and code interpretations related to fire and life safety requirements.

• Utilize Aoka’s proprietary software, VertexPlans, to manage plan reviews, comments, and approvals efficiently.

Qualifications & Experience

• ICC Fire Plans Examiner Certification or equivalent fire safety credentials required.

• Prior experience reviewing fire protection or life safety plans for municipalities or third-party agencies strongly preferred.

• Strong knowledge of adopted fire codes, including IFC, NFPA, and related standards.

• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and fire protection system designs.

Compensation

$30 – $45 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
