A Floor Technician (Floor Tech) is responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and restoring hard surfaces and carpets in commercial buildings. Key duties include stripping, waxing, buffing, and shampooing/extracting carpets using industrial machinery, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Scrub and Polish hard floors (NORA, LVT, etc) using heavy-duty, powered buffing/burnishing and scrubbing machines
Vacuum, extract, and/or bonnet clean carpets to remove stains and maintain appearance
Move furniture before and after sweeping/mopping floors, clean baseboards and polish stainless steel
Follow infection control procedures, properly dilute and handle chemicals, and use safety signs to manage wet floors
Clean and maintain elevator tracks
Requirements & Qualifications
High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent
3+ years of experience in environmental services, janitorial work or specifically in floor care
Completion of drug screening and background check
Capable of frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting/pushing equipment, often up to 50 pounds
Understanding of different floor types and the appropriate cleaning chemicals or methods
