Florist

Summary

Mackenthun's Florists are responsible for performing Floral Department duties according to department standards and processes.

Understand and actively support Mackenthun's Exceptional Experience by greeting each customer and offering assistance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Florists are expected to provide excellent customer service.

Expected to take customer orders.

Create floral arrangements.

Merchandise floral cases and displays.

Prepare floral and balloon orders.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the department.

Other Duties

Maintain a positive attitude while providing excellent customer service.

Assist in other departments when needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.

Must be able to speak, read, and write English language.

Must be skilled in basic math.

Minimize losses due to improper storing and handling of products.

Perform duties in a manner that safeguards company equipment, resources and image.

Must be honest and dependable.

Must be able to work independently, be self motivated, and work as a team member.

May be required to work early mornings, evenings, some holidays and weekends.

Must be willing to learn the characteristics and qualities of the products and services Mackenthun's offers.

Be a positive and creative trend-setter with excellent customer service skills, problem solving and decision making skills.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing/walking/hearing for long periods of time.

Frequent bending at the waist, reaching with hands and arms, and above shoulders/below waist, crouching/stooping/kneeling.

Occasional climbing stairs, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying 40 lbs., pushing/pulling 500 lbs with use of pallet jack.

Training

Will be trained on floral and plant care, floral arranging, filling helium balloons, general merchandising, and display building, personal safety and harassment prevention. Additional training provided on baler, compactor, lift truck and pallet jack as needed.

Equipment Used

Knives, scissors, baler, compactor, ladder, lift truck, pallet jack, sinks, walk-in coolers, box cutter. (Age Restrictions Apply)

Work Environment

Work individually or in team environments, in cool temperatures with hands repeatedly exposed to water.
