Food Bank Commercial Driver

Position Summary:
The Part-Time Food Bank Commercial Driver supports the mission of North Valley Community Food Bank by safely transporting food donations and deliveries in larger commercial vehicles. This position requires a Class A or B commercial driver’s license with airbrake endorsement. The driver will pick up donation loads from partner distributors and distribution centers (DCs), deliver orders to partner agencies, and assist with warehouse operations as needed. Flexibility is essential, as donation calls and schedules may vary.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate food bank vehicles (Class A or B, airbrakes) to pick up food donations from partner agencies, distribution centers, and local businesses.


• Deliver food orders to partner agencies or customers in a timely, safe, and professional manner.


• Assist with warehouse tasks, including unloading incoming trucks, loading outgoing deliveries, and organizing product.


• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are in safe operating condition; report any issues promptly.


• Maintain accurate records of pickups, deliveries, and donation receipts.


• Communicate effectively with donors, staff, and volunteers to represent the food bank positively.


• Follow all food safety, vehicle safety, and organizational policies.

Qualifications:

• Valid Class A or B CDL with airbrake endorsement.


• Clean driving record and ability to be insured under organizational policy.


• Experience operating commercial vehicles (box truck, tractor-trailer, or similar).


• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical work such as loading/unloading.


• Flexible schedule to accommodate occasional short-notice donation pickups.


• Team player with strong communication skills.


• Prior warehouse, logistics, or food distribution experience preferred.

Hours & Compensation:
