Title: Food Expeditor

Status: Part-Time (year-round)

We are looking for an experienced Food Expeditor to help manage a smooth workflow between the kitchen, service staff, and the members. You will work in a fast-paced environment to ensure that food orders are delivered quickly, correctly, and efficiently.

As a food expeditor, you must have excellent communication skills and experience in a restaurant’s fast-paced, back-of-house environment. You must have enough physical and mental stamina to be in constant motion and the skills needed to coordinate and organize processes. 

Your role as a Food Expeditor is crucial in making our dining service more efficient, thereby enhancing the service quality and experience for our membership. Your contribution is integral to our team's success.

Job Tasks and Duties:

• Ensure the efficient flow of food orders from the servers to the kitchen team
• Ensure orders are being prepared in correct order, by priority 
• Assist in the final preparation of dishes
• Check dishes before delivery for accuracy, presentation, and temperature
• Deliver orders timely and professionally to maintain our service standards
• Eliminate obstacles in service areas and food preparation lines 
• Inspect the premises according to quality and sanitation standards and assist in cleaning as needed
• Transfer important information between the kitchen and the service staff (e.g., when a customer has a particular request, dietary restrictions, etc.)
• Set up and tear down buffets for events
• Set and keep up the back-of-house operational lines for service 
• Support other tasks as needed 

Core Competencies and Physical Demands:

• Proven experience as a food expeditor or other restaurant position
• Understanding of health and safety rules in a restaurant
• Dexterity in using kitchen equipment or utensils and carrying heavy trays
• Well-organized and able to lead and direct people
• Excellent verbal communication and negotiation skills
• Outstanding coordination and multi-tasking abilities
• A customer-oriented approach
• Great physical endurance
• Food handling certification may be required
