Job Description - Food Security Program Lead

Description

The Food Program Lead will work alongside Chaplain and volunteers to create a welcoming, inclusive environment which holds high the dignity of each client we serve. Successful candidates are relationship-driven and detail-oriented, while still able to keep the broader vision in mind.

This position supports the work of the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette, a leading philanthropic organization committed to strengthening the foundations of our communities. The Lead stewards the Y’s cause and advocates for the Y’s mission and strategic plan, promoting and protecting the brand and reputation as a global, inclusive organization. The Lead supports the operations of the Food Security programs at the Sherwood Family YMCA and participates in financial, volunteer, and program development. 

General tasks include, but are not limited too:

  • Food ordering, receiving, and distribution.
  • Ensuring compliance with partner organizations, food handling guidelines, and grant funding.
  • Assisting with donor and community partner development.
  • Volunteer staff scheduling.
  • Working scheduled food pantry shifts.

Requirements

Job Requirements & Essential Functions

  • Must pass YMCA background check. 
  • Basic computer skills: ability to learn and utilize partner and grant portals, knowledge of Office 365 Suite.
  • Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with members, clients, and volunteers; ability to de-escalate high tension situations. 
  • CPR/First Aid certified or ability to acquire within 30 days of employment.
  •  Food Handlers card or ability to attain within 30 days of employment. 
  • Must have reliable transportation across South Region service area (Washington and Yamhill Counties). 
  • 2 years of experience working/volunteering in food security programs preferred. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to bend and squat, lift 30 pound cases of food or produce unassisted, and lift 50 pound cases with assistance.
