Job Description - Food Service Director

Position Summary:
Mathewson Street United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time Food Service Director to work Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9am – 1pm. The Food Service Director will either perform or oversee volunteers performing tasks including but not limited to:

Plan, prepare, and serve a nutritious lunch meal to 70-100 hungry and food-insecure diners from our onsite kitchen
Foster an environment of joyful cooperation and loving acceptance for all volunteers and diners
Maintain and manage a clean, organized kitchen that follows all food-safe protocols
Serve as the primary contact and coordinator with the Food Bank
Coordinate with any restaurants or businesses that want to make food donations
Collect data about the number of meals served
Survey our participants at least once a year to assess for unmet nutritional/dietary needs

Qualifications:

At least 6 years of food service experience, including experience overseeing a kitchen or teaching students/volunteers
Undergraduate college degree BA or equivalent in food service
Welcoming and friendly disposition
Good organizational skills and strong work ethic
Must be comfortable and have extensive experience communicating effectively and respectfully with people from all walks of life, including those experiencing homelessness
