Funeral Support Aid (Best Buddies Program)

Description

Summary: Perform a variety of tasks, such as arrange floral offerings or lights around casket, directing or escorting mourners, and maintaining funeral home to provide a clean and attractive experience for families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  

• Provide a professional approach and decorum with customers and fellow staff members, and adhere to East Lawn’s Mission Statement and Values.
• Assist families for visitations by opening doors and escorting visitors to desired location.
• Assist funeral staff by proving compassionate service with respect and trustworthiness greeting visitors and handing out service folders.
• Assist clergy, pall-bearers, delivery personnel and other service participants by proving direction to the proper location.
• Assist clerical staff as needed by creating service folders, life tribute videos, arranging flowers.
• Cleaning and janitorial duties to disinfect and clean the funeral home, arrangement rooms and related areas to maintain a clean and attractive experience for families.
• Ability to operate AV System and record or live stream services.
• Work a minimum of three shifts in a 3-month period to remain employed.
• Other duties as required.

• Must maintain a neat and clean appearance, adhering to the East Lawn Dress Code.  
• Ability to follow through to complete tasks assigned by the funeral director or management with a sense of urgency.
• Ability to work without direct supervision.
• Available to work any day of the week.

• On-the-job training

Computer Skills

Must be able to clock in and out using a phone app or on a computer.

This position is in a funeral home with an open office environment, desktop business equipment and frequent telephone calls. Noise level is moderate. Requires working indoors with controlled environment and outdoors exposed to all weather conditions; very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold temperatures.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or sit for long periods of time. The employee must constantly reach with hands and fingers. Employee must be able to work in close contact with small and large groups. Frequent hearing and talking is required. Must be able to lift and carry items or equipment up to 75 pounds.
