Description
The Gallery Host plays an important role in the visitor experience at the North Carolina Museum of Art, Winston-Salem. They welcome guests into the gallery spaces, keep visitors and art objects safe, provide information and assistance when requested, and participate in exhibition-related programming. Reporting to the Director of Programs and Audience Engagement, the Gallery Host receives training in exhibition content, front-of-house procedures, retail, event setup and breakdown, program delivery, and safety and security protocols.
Responsibilities
· Gain considerable knowledge of services, policies, procedures, and information systems related to a program or area of specialization.
· Demonstrate and apply this knowledge in the performance of administrative tasks; explain and interpret information to visitors/customers and staff.
· Compile, assimilate, and organize both printed and electronic information; apply knowledge of data collection, storage, organization, and manipulation, and/or analyze data.
· Identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities and use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions.
· Clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups.
Requirements
· High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively in written form; ability to adjust language or terminology to meet the needs of the audience; ability to use correct grammar, organization, and structure
· Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet organizational needs
