General Maintenance Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

Conducts light custodial services and performs routine maintenance and repairs on YMCA buildings, grounds and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Performs minor and major repairs of all buildings and equipment.

· Replaces broken windows; repairs doors, door locks; installs window blinds.

· Installs flooring of all types

· Repairs plumbing fixtures including but not limited to toilets, sinks, and urinals.

· Replace and repair receptacles, switches, lighting fixtures and ballasts.

· Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.

· Performs basic carpentry, including but not limited to ceiling tile replacements, plaster and drywall repairs; interior and exterior painting

· Performs light custodial duties and general clean-up of all areas of the building as directed.

· Performs basic grounds maintenance, as needed

· Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required by my department.

· Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

· Minimum of 2-3 years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.

· Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance related areas.

· Knowledge of basic cleaning protocols and chemical useage

· Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy

· Able to prioritize and meet deadlines

· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

· Ability to write simple correspondence.

· Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening

CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

· CPR and First Aid Certifications required

· Annual Completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training

· Annual Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class

· Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols

· Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor
