Job Description:

UHS is currently seeking a dynamic and energetic Girls/Boys Varsity Tennis Assistant Coaches. The successful candidates must have:

• exemplary coaching skills at the high school level.
• strong experience in educational-based athletics.
• passion for teaching and learning from young people.

The Girls/Boys Varsity Assistant Tennis Coach reports to the Varsity Head Coach and is responsible for the support of the girls/boys varsity tennis team.  This position is responsible for assisting the head Varsity coach with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student-athletes in game strategies and techniques. As well as help garner an appreciation for physical fitness, discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork in Tennis.  This position requires travel and work on weekends and evenings. 

Responsibilities of the Girls/Boys Varsity Assistant Tennis Coach

• Help coordinate and supervise the Girls/Boys Varsity Tennis program.
• Ensures that University and League policies, rules and regulations regarding the conduct of athletic activities and student-athletes are followed.
• Works with the Head Coach and Athletic Department to plan and organize practices and games schedules.
• Maintains a safe environment for student-athletes at all times.
• Helps to ensure regular supervision of student-athletes at home and away games and ensures appropriate behavior.
• Ensures that student-athletes adhere to training rules, class and grade requirements, and rules of behavior on the court, in conditioning, and in the team room.
• Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, and officials.  Resolves all conflicts in a professional manner.
• Professionally represents University in all interactions with the community at large.
• Ensures the proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms.
• Makes recommendations regarding the purchase of uniforms, equipment, and supplies.  Also manages inventory.
• Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
• Attends work regularly and is punctual to all practices and games.
• Obtain advance approval for the Athletic Director for all team-related expenditures.
• Manages other duties as assigned.

Salary:

This is a seasonal, part-time job.  $25/Hr.

Requirements

 Qualifications:

• Experience as a tennis coach at the high school or college-level
• Knowledgeable of the fundamentals and techniques of competitive tennis.
• Can play in during training sessions when needed
• Strong organizational skills and systems
• CPR/First Aid certificates required
