Job Title: Great Strides Driver

Department: Teen

Work Location: This position requires on-site presence at Albany Clubhouse with travel to Saratoga Golf & Polo Club.

Reports to: Regional Teen Director

Salary: $15.50/hr

Hours & Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays 2:00pm - 7:00pm, 7/1/25-8/28/25 (10 hours/week)

Classification: Part-Time, Seasonal, Non-Exempt

Overview of Your Role

The primary function of the Great Strudes Driver will be to provide transportation of club members from the Albany Clubhouse to Saratoga Golf & Polo Club for lessons through the Great Strides Program.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

The following job functions are considered essential for this position:

  1. Be an approved driver on BGCCA's insurance policy, which includes submitting a Motor Vehicle Record release and approval from BGCCA's insurance carrier to be an authorized driver.
  2. Transport club members in accordance with our Vehicle Usage and Member Transportation Policy.
  3. Follow NYS motor vehicle laws and regulations at all times.
  4. Conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner with members, staff, and community partners.
  5. Follow the rules and regulations of the Golf & Polo Club while on premises.
  6. Complete required training and maintain all certifications as required by BGCCA policies.

Work environment:

This position operates primarily in vehicle transportation between indoor facilities. Driver will be responsible for supervising 2-6 youth members during transport and at the polo facility. Environment includes interaction with community partners and adherence to external facility regulations.

Travel required:

Regular local travel required between Albany Clubhouse and Saratoga Golf & Polo Club. Usage of club van provided - personal vehicle not required.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Club members (youth ages 5-18), Teen Department supervisor, and colleagues, program staff.

External: Community partners (Great Strides program), Saratoga Golf & Polo Club staff and instructors.


Requirements

CREDENTIALS, SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Previous experience working with youth preferred
  • Experience with program transportation preferred

Required Certifications:

  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
  • Must complete BGCA child safety and reporting training before starting

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent driving skills and safety awareness
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the BGCCA Vehicle Usage and Member Transportation Policy
  • Must be reliable and punctual
  • Ability to supervise and ensure safety of youth during transport
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with youth and community partners
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting, child abuse clearance, and sex offender registry check, as required by BGCCA

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position may require:

  • Standing/walking for up to 5 hours per day
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds
  • Extended periods of driving (up to 1 hour at a time)
  • Ability to assist youth entering/exiting vehicles safely
  • Visual and auditory acuity to monitor youth safety during transport
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
