Grocery Coordinator- Non Profit (Part Time)

Description

The Action Center is actively seeking a highly motivated and organized part-time Grocery Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of volunteers in our food distribution area.  As a representative of the Agency, the Grocery Coordinator is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service and creating a welcoming environment that reflects our commitment to community support. Candidates for this position should demonstrate a strong work ethic and possess excellent interpersonal skills.  The schedule will consist of 20 hours per week, specifically on Thursdays and Fridays.

Requirements

• Oversee the organization and execution of daily volunteer activities, including food sorting, packing, and distribution, while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Facilitate the stocking of shelves and the organization of inventory throughout the agency by utilizing dollies, pallet jacks, and manual handling techniques.  
• Communicate clearly with volunteers regarding roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and productive environment for all volunteers.
• Create and maintain a volunteer schedule that maximizes participation and aligns with the needs of the food distribution services.
• Explore potential enhancements to our food distribution processes to optimize efficiency and effectiveness
• Monitor and manage daily changes in the foods distributed to ensure a well-rounded, nutritious food selection for our community members and equity by household size.
• Communicate any necessary supplies and specific food items to the Product Operations Manager in a timely manner
• Adhere to the established protocols for the distribution of food to individuals experiencing homelessness and those from low-income households.
• Follow agency opening and closing procedures for the donation dock and agency buildings
• Implement and enforce safety measures and best practices to create a secure environment 
• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• A High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Exhibit delegation skills to effectively assign tasks and empower team members
• Background in food handling, which includes understanding safety protocols and maintaining hygiene standards.
• Customer service experience is preferred, with the ability to engage and assist community members with a positive attitude.
• Ability to demonstrate flexibility and navigate a fast-changing work environment, 
• Possess problem-solving skills to make quick decisions
• Warehouse experience is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to regularly lift to 50 pounds to a height of four feet
• Moderate strenuous activity is associated with packing, lifting, sorting food, and groceries. 
• The work involves standing, walking, loading/unloading, and repeated lifting throughout the entire workday.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Outside donation dock, warehouse, and grocery store type environment.
