As a Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:

• Provide care under the guidance of the treating physical therapist, following the personalized plan of care to support each patient’s recovery.


• Collaborate with patients, families, and caregivers in developing and evaluating the plan of care, ensuring therapy meets individual needs and goals.


• Assist the physical therapist in documenting treatments, patient responses, and progress, helping track meaningful improvements in each patient’s journey.


• Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate care and ensure smooth transitions, including discharge planning.


• Coach and educate patients and their families on exercises, self-care, and therapy goals, empowering them to take an active role in their recovery.

A few must-haves for Home Health Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs):

• Active licensure, registration, or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Florida


• At least 2 years of PTA experience, ideally in home healthcare, bringing skills and empathy to each patient visit


• CPR certification to ensure patient safety and well-being


• Familiarity with state and federal home health regulations, supporting high-quality, compliant care


• Strong clinical judgment, excellent interpersonal skills, and the compassion to motivate and encourage patients every day
