Location: Seamark Ranch – Green Cove Springs, FL
Status: Hourly, Part-Time (30 hours/week, Monday through Friday)
Reports To: Director of Operations

Position Summary:
Seamark Ranch is seeking a skilled and dependable Horse Barn Assistant to oversee all aspects of horse and barn care. This role is focused on the operational and physical responsibilities of our equestrian program, including feeding, grooming, stall maintenance, trail readiness, and horse training for basic, trail and rodeo-style riding. The assistant will also coordinate barn volunteers and help certify resident youth and houseparents for safe, off-hours barn access. While not an equine therapy position, this role does include teaching horsemanship and structured riding skills to children in residential care.

Key Responsibilities:

Barn & Horse Care:

-       Oversee daily feeding, watering, and grooming routines

-       Muck stalls, manage turnout, and maintain clean, safe barn facilities

-       Monitor horse health and communicate care needs to Director of Operations

-       Coordinate veterinary and farrier services as needed

-       Maintain trails and ensure horses are ready for trail rides

Instruction & Training:

-       Provide basic and intermediate riding instruction (safety, grooming, horsemanship)

-       Teach basic riding and trail riding skills alongside rodeo-style disciplines for youth participation

-       Facilitate trail rides and train/certify youth and houseparents for independent horse access

-       Set barn safety standards and enforce barn access policies

Volunteer Management:

-       Coordinate barn volunteers, especially for weekend feedings and facility maintenance

-       Provide direction and oversight for volunteers assisting with riding activities

Qualifications:

-       Significant experience in horse care, barn management, and trail riding

-       Demonstrated ability to teach youth riding skills and horsemanship

-       Strong work ethic, dependable, and physically able to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors

-       Passionate about mentoring youth in a Christian environment

-       No formal certification required, but confidence and competence in instruction expected
