House Support Specialist

Founded in 1981, the Cooperative for Human Services, Inc., is a multi-service organization that provides residential services, independent living supports, and guardianship services for people with intellectual and other related disabilities. IF YOU ENJOY PREPARING A TASTY MEAL IN A FAMILY ATMOSPHERE, LIKE TO CHAT WITH PEOPLE, AND LOVE A TIDY HOME THEN...WE are LOOKING FOR YOU!

• Participate in meal planning for assigned residential program(s), taking into consideration meals you enjoy preparing, as well as the preferences of individuals served.
• Prepare chosen family-style meals for individuals and staff.
• Interact with staff and individuals before, during, and after meal time.
• Clean the kitchen and dining areas after meals as needed.
• Advocate on behalf of each person served.
• Communicate and meet regularly with the Program Director, Program Coordinator, and Division Manager.  
• Know and understand the dietary restrictions of those served. 
• Assist in creating a home environment that reflects that people are valued and reflects the individual’s preferences and personality.
• Safeguard the confidentiality of those served.
• Act as a positive role model in dress, hygiene, demeanor, and behavior.
• Uphold and comply with all safety programs and policies to maintain a safe environment for the people we support, employees, family members, and visitors.

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

• Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)
• Department of Developmental Services: 1 year (Preferred)
• MUST HAVE A VALID CPR AND FIRST AID CERTIFICATION BEFORE DATE OF HIRE
