Description

The Clocktower Hotel at Century House is looking for a houseperson to fill an immediate opening in Latham, NY. Daytime and evening shifts are available, and the days of the week may vary. The houseperson is responsible for upholding the company’s cleanliness standards for all common areas located in the hotel. This position helps create a welcoming environment for all hotel guests. Prior hotel housekeeping experience is preferred.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Cleaning Responsibilities

  • Checks in with the front desk for assignments or special projects
  • Cleans public restrooms and cabanas, including cleaning sinks, toilets, mirrors, mopping floors, and restocking amenities.
  • Vacuums common areas, including the exercise room, hotel hallways, and stairs.
  • Responsible for cleaning all meeting rooms and common areas, including removing garbage, vacuuming, and cleaning windowsills.
  • When assigned, checks the pH and chlorine levels of the pool at 9:00 am, 12:00 pm, and 3:00 pm.
  • When assigned, cleans filter baskets, hooks up the phone, and vacuums pool when needed.
  • When assigned, opens the pool by unlocking the gate, opening umbrellas, and emptying the garbage.
  • Removes snow by shoveling and salting as needed.
  • Completes daily checklists

Guest Service

  • Offers guests assistance whenever possible.
  • Responsible for resolving or escalating customer relations issues.
  • Answers inquiries about hotel policies and services.
  • Ensures all guest requests for additional items have been completed by assisting with luggage and delivering extra towels as needed.
  • Responsible for positively representing and promoting the property.
  • Ensures systems and procedures are followed for guest safety and security.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Completes daily housekeeping report
  • Reports any maintenance, security, or safety issues to the appropriate staff.
  • Inspects rooms and reports any broken items, such as beds, chairs, and fixtures to management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent years of relevant work experience required.
  • Previous housekeeping experience is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work efficiently under time constraints.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with cleaning chemicals.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds frequently.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and smell.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule.
