The City of Fredericksburg’s Human Resources Department is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Human Resources (HR) Account Technician to support our payroll, benefits, and HR operations. This pivotal role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Key Responsibilities:
Process a variety of pay related records, including new hires, promotions, and terminations.
Coordinate pay related updates with city vendors, including the Virginia Retirement System and insurance providers.
Verify and reconcile insurance billing; address vendor billing concerns.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Create, maintain, and provide HR reports and metrics.
Audit voluntary benefits and invoices to resolve discrepancies.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures.
Provide backup for employment verifications and department front desk.
Administer the Tuition Reimbursement Program and track budget utilization.
Manage Flexible Spending Account (FSA) transfers.
Process and track various forms, reports, and applications.
Research and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies.
Maintain current knowledge of laws and industry trends.
Support cross-functional initiatives and departments.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Human Resources.
Three years’ experience in accounting, payroll, or a similar role.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and advanced Excel skills.
Tyler Munis Experience (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of HR pay practices and benefits administration.
Ability to maintain accuracy and compliance in processing financial transactions.
Skilled in data analysis, identifying discrepancies, and implementing solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and make decisions within established guidelines.
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
