Job Location: Part Time - In Yakima

Salary Range: $20.57 – $26.84/hr

Position Overview:  

The GED Instructor 1 will teach instructional support curriculum. The GED Instructor 1 will support in the administration of the Educational Assessments and Occupational Evaluations to determine student’s reading, math, language and communication skill levels. They will provide GED students with HSED preparation assistance and instruction to graduate with a HSED credential including academic instruction in Common Core State Standards in math, science, language arts, writing, reading, and social studies.

Essential Duties: 

• Maintain an active record of student performance and growth. Research, develop, and implement culturally relevant instruction and materials to assist GED students with academic and professional skills development. 
• Develop and provide differentiated instruction to a wide range of learners.
• Provide one-on-one and small group instruction within and outside of the classroom setting.
• Prepare students for further education by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with Challenging tasks.
• Expose students to occupational training and careers, particularly for STEM-related activities and help in work readiness training for students. 
• Must work in partnership with other departments to ensure that student academic progress is guided by each student’s Individual Success Plan (ISP). 
• Will work with college partners to coordinate GED testing preparation services and exam schedules. 
• Observe and evaluate students' work to determine progress and make suggestions for improvement to the Project/Program Director.
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students.      
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs, abilities, and interests. 
• Other duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Must be CPR certified.

· Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills, experience leading a group of students.

· Ability to manage multiple projects.

· Knowledge of career services and labor market trends.

· Demonstrate ability to use sound judgment, work effectively and calmly under pressure and maintain high level of confidentiality.

· Ability to work independently and in a team. 

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
