Position Summary: 

The TANF Intake Case Manager is responsible for conducting comprehensive intakes for families applying to the TANF Family Housing Program, assessing eligibility, identifying needs, and connecting families to appropriate services. This role provides the first point of contact for TANF housing assistance and plays a vital role in ensuring families begin their journey toward stability with clarity and support. 

 Primary Responsibilities: TANF Intake and Assessment 

• Conduct initial intake interviews for families applying for TANF Family Housing programs. 
• Collect required documentation and verify eligibility based on TANF and agency guidelines. 
• Complete internal intake forms, screening tools, and enter data into HMIS or applicable platforms. 
• Explain program expectations, services, and rights to clients in a respectful, clear, and empowering manner. 
• Respond to walk-ins and referrals, providing immediate support or follow-up scheduling. 

Case File and Documentation 

• Maintain accurate and complete client files including intake notes, required verifications, and program documents. 
• Track intake status, appointments, and follow-ups using internal systems. 
• Ensure timely and accurate data entry for compliance and reporting purposes. 

Collaboration & Support 

• Communicate and coordinate with Case Managers, Housing Navigators, and Shelter/Resource Center staff to ensure smooth client transitions. 
• Participate in staff meetings, case reviews, and required trainings. 
• Provide support to the team as needed when urgent needs arise outside of intake responsibilities. 

Other Duties As Assigned 

• Support administrative tasks, documentation audits, or basic follow-up when needed. 

Work Schedule: 

• Fixed: 
  • Wednesday: 6.5 hours (e.g., 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM) 
  • Thursday: 6.5 hours (e.g., 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM) 
  • Friday: 7 hours (e.g., 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM) 

  Total: 20 hours/week 

  Compensation: 

  $18–$20/hour (based on experience)
