Jazz Dance Teaching Artist

Summary/Objective:  The Jazz Dance Teaching Artist will facilitate identified dance programs managed by the Philadelphia Ballet Community Education and Public Programs (CEPP) Department.

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

• Allowing sufficient preparation time by arriving to school sites ten minutes in advance of class
  


• Compliance with all Covid-19 and other safety protocols in place at each school site 
  


• Commitment to all classes as scheduled 
  


• Attendance at mandatory professional development sessions
  


• Attendance at rehearsals and performances as requested by Philadelphia Ballet staff
  


• Other duties as assigned
  

Required Education & Experience: 

• Associate's degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  


• 3 years teaching High School level dancers
  


• 2 years teaching in a Public High School setting
  


• Studied innovative, creative ways in which improvisational peer workshopping cultivates choreographic work.
  


• Utilizing conceptual ideas and themes as the catalyst for choreography. 
  


• Using non-traditional muses as origin for choreography such as imagery, text, nature, and concepts.

Supervisory Responsibility:  None

Work Authorization/Security Clearance: Must provide satisfactory background checks and clearances as is required for role.
