As a Job Coach Direct Support Professional, you’ll work one-on-one with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, supporting them in gaining meaningful employment, building job skills, and thriving in their workplaces and communities. Job Summary
As a Job Coach, you will support individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities by creating meaningful learning opportunities, fostering independence, and guiding them toward competitive employment. You will assist both job seekers and those currently employed in community settings. Flexibility is essential, as this role may include back-up responsibilities as a Direct Support Professional (DSP).
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
(Other duties may be assigned.)
Encourage individuals to live fulfilling, independent lives through person-centered supports.
Support individuals in understanding and exercising their rights and self-advocacy.
Develop individualized job coaching plans based on job analysis and tailored to the person and workplace.
Teach and model social, daily living, and workplace skills.
Support positive social interactions and community inclusion.
Assist with transportation to and from employment or help arrange accessible options.
Help individuals join interest-based groups and organizations to foster recreation and social engagement.
Follow all organizational medication administration policies and procedures.
Provide physical assistance, including using gait belts, transferring to/from wheelchairs, and assisting with hygiene as needed.
Intervene safely in physically or emotionally escalated situations.
Perform physical duties including lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, crawling, reaching, twisting, and responding quickly when needed.

Qualifications

Required:
High School Diploma or GED
Valid driver's license and current automobile insurance
Ability to pass criminal background and motor vehicle checks
Basic computer proficiency (for documentation and communication)
Physical ability to perform lifting and mobility assistance as needed
Preferred:
Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities in employment or community settings
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and adaptability skills
