K4 Art Teacher

Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced K4 Art teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching engaging lessons to our K-4 students.

Job Summary:

The K4 Art teacher is to plan and instruct all K4 Art classes, along with the corresponding exhibits and events. The K4 Art teacher is one who displays a deep knowledge of Scripture and how it applies to the lives of students. This includes an ability to demonstrate a passion for ministering to students. The teacher must be a professing and maturing Christian enthusiastically supporting Valley Christian's Statement of Faith and mission statements.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Develop and grow K4 Art program
• Teach K4 Art's daily specials classes, grade K-4 and plan/participate on periodic art showings on campus
• Connect with Director of Fine Arts for K-12 alignment
• Participate in student life on campus
• Successfully teaches Art and display the ability to connect Biblical truth to students lives
• Demonstrate a passion for ministering to students through teaching, counseling, encouragement, and mentoring
• Maintain a healthy learning environment for the students in the classroom by using appropriate enforcement of student behavior rules
• Attend professional development workshops provided by Valley Christian Schools
• Exercise open and respectful communication with students, families, co-workers, and supervisors
• Adheres to and honors Valley Christians standards, policies, procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
• Performs other related assigned duties

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

• Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is a consistent testimony among others
• Agree to uphold Valley Christian’s Mission & Beliefs which can be found at http://valleychristianaz.org/about/philosophy/
• Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with our school’s Mission & Beliefs
• Attain ACSI Standard Certification within three years of employment
• Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
• Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Ability to multitask with organization
• Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors Degree of Art or relevant/equivalent experience within Art education and instruction

Physical Requirements:

• Use a computer (visual and keyboarding) for long periods of time
• Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time
• Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
• At times requires stooping, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and climbing stairs (2-story)
• Use of hands, fingers, arms to reach, grip and maneuver objects
• Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms)
• Work in noisy and crowded school environment
• Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings when needed
• Frequent walking throughout the campus
• Must be able to travel in state between campuses, to vendors, and to related events
