Kids Club Counselor - 2025-26 School Year (Part-Time)

Dates & Hours:

2025-2026 District 35 School Year (August 26, 2025-June 10, 2026)

Kid's Club PM Camp Hours: 
Monday-Friday, 3-6:30 PM. Hours are flexible based on individuals' availability. PM Counselors must work at least 3 days per week.

Summary:  

Under the supervision of the Program Manager of Camps, Art, and Kids Club, the Kids Club counselor is responsible for the safety, supervision, and enjoyment of the Glencoe Park District Kids Club Participants.  Kids Club Counselors are responsible for coordinating and supervising the Before and After School Program in a manner that contributes to the individual growth and development of program participants.   

Qualifications: 

• 16 years old or older  

• Previous experiences working with children or in recreation programming  

• available to work from 2:45-6:30 PM (or once you are available after school)

• able to assist with School Day Off programming, when available 

• CPR/AED/First Aid certification required upon hire  

Required Knowledge: 

A knowledge of the philosophy of public recreation and the ability to communicate this to others is required.  Must have proven technical knowledge of the content of the position.  Must be able to provide age-appropriate interactions and activities for children in grades K-6.  

Required Skills: 

Must maintain prompt hours; notify Program Manager in the event of illness at least 30 minutes before the start of the program, if possible.  Must maintain a neat and clean appearance, work with all staff members in a cooperative manner, attend staff meetings when scheduled, and report problems of child or program management to the Program Manager.  Must follow the personnel policies and safety policies of the Glencoe Park District. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Assist in providing and delivering an on-going plan of daily activities for the program that include but are not limited to passive play, homework time, free play, and structured organized group games Establish and maintain a good relationship between Glencoe School District 35 and the Glencoe Park District Promote and supervise activities which promote the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of each child Closely supervise all activities to ensure safety of each child at all times Assist the children in self-care routines Must receive prior authorization from Program Manager to take time-off, except in the event of illness. 
  


• Must receive prior authorization from the Program Manager to secure a substitute, except in the event of an illness 


• Work extra hours as necessary 


• Assist in the preparation and distribution of after-school snacks 


• Provide and maintain a neat and organized program area; take responsibility for upkeep and of all equipment and materials 


• To be supportive of parents, encouraging involvement, and open and honest communication while using tact, discretion, and sensitivity 


• Maintain a physical environment that is safe, clean, and conducive to the optimal growth and development of the children in the program
