Kitchen Steward

Description

A steward at Farmer Joe's is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized environment in both the kitchen and dish areas. This includes washing dishes, utensils, and equipment, as well as ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are upheld. The steward supports the kitchen staff by ensuring the kitchen is well-stocked and that equipment is in good working order. 

Responsibilities:

• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen tools.
• Clean kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment.
• Make sure the kitchen is clean and safe to work in.
• Dispose of trash and waste properly.
• Help stock and organize kitchen supplies.
• Assist with receiving deliveries of food and equipment.
• Follow food safety rules when handling food and cleaning equipment. 
• Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work space at all times.
•  Ensure sufficient supply of necessary cleaning solutions and sanitation products.
• Making sure sanitation requirements for pots, pans, and all other kitchen utensils are met.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate.
• Able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years or older.

· Displays strong creative background, able to suggest alternatives, and be open to suggestion.

· Ability to handle kitchen utensils and equipment safely. 

· Must display strong leadership skills. 

· Ability to work under pressure.

· Create a motivational environment.

· Able to open, close, work mid shift on rotation. 

· Excellent attention to details.

· Demonstrate ability to work independently, be an organized, creative self-starter and efficient in a constantly evolving environment.

· Ability to manage and successfully execute multiple tasks simultaneously.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while maintaining focus and precision
• Capability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs)
• Skilled in both gross and fine manipulation
• Peripheral vision and near/far visual accuracy
• Effectively hear and respond to instructions in a bustling environment
• Manual dexterity 
• Use of step-stools and ladders as needed
• Reaching above, at, and below waist level
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and move fluidly around
• Comfortable working in diverse temperatures (hot, humid, cold) and tolerating moderate amounts of dust and cleaning agents
• Able to handle a wide variety of fresh ingredients without adverse allergic reactions
• Maintain stability and balance while executing tasks efficiently
• Convey instructions clearly and communicate with team members effectively, even in busy or noisy environments
