The Laboratory Assistant 2 sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory equipment and apparatus and software. Under the supervision of the Laboratory PI and Manager, this role supports clinical and research laboratory operations through various tasks, including preparing images, diles, samples and specimens, maintaining records, ordering supplies. Responsibilities also include performing daily quality control checks, routine maintenance, and assisting personnel with experimental procedures and data maintenance. The Laboratory Assistant 2 plays a crucial role in maintaining an organized and efficient lab environment, supporting both patient care services and research initiatives.
Required Skills and Abilities
1. Excellent manual dexterity and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of various data formats, ability to work with a computer and all Microsoft Office tools.
2. Detail-oriented with strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
3. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with strong communication and organizational skills.
4. Familiarity with laboratory protocols and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
1. Prior experience as a lab assistant and familiarity with laboratory procedures (e.g., glass washing, making solutions, autoclaving).
2. Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician Certification by AALAS, with experience handling radioactive materials and working with animals.
3. Master's degree with experience in data analysis and operation of SEM microscopes.
4. Experience handling and processing biological specimens.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Records data and results. 2. Prepares chemical solutions and media. Orders, stocks and distributes supplies. 3. Maintains work area and cleanliness of laboratory. Washes and sterilizes glassware and equipment. 4. May assist in procedures using animals. May compile data on scientific/laboratory procedures. 5.
