Position Type: Part time, exempt, 20 hours/week



Reports To: Director of Services



Location: The Compass Center

Position Summary:


The Lead Rape Crisis Advocate supports the mission and values of The Compass Center by overseeing the Rape Crisis Advocacy team and ensuring the delivery of trauma informed, client centered and culturally responsive services to survivors of sexual violence. This role combines direct client support with program coordination.



Primary Responsibilities


Program and Services



  • Oversee scheduling, communication and support for the Rape Crisis Advocates.

  • Assist in the coverage of the 24 hour sexual assault line, providing crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning and information and referral services to survivors of sexual violence and human trafficking, as needed during shift hours.

  • Assist in follow up calls after a survivor was seen in the hospital or by an advocate during a shift.

  • Provide advocacy and support to survivors of sexual violence who are incarcerated or are in confinement settings.

  • Develop and maintain expertise in trauma informed care, the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), advocacy best practices and others as identifies and assigned.

  • Work collaboratively with community systems used by survivors of sexual violence during the crisis and provide feedback on how to improve systems to better meet survivor needs.


Administrative



  • Maintain accurate timely clinical documentation in compliance with agency and funding requirements.

  • Monitor trends in advocacy work and adjust trainings and processes as needed.

  • Develop, maintain and lead the rape crisis advocacy training, including scheduling and training sessions and ensuring content remains current and aligned with best practices.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Services.



Position Requirements


Education & Licensure



  • Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice or a related field required.

  • Master's degree in Social Work preferred.

  • Minimum of 1 year working with survivors of sexual violence or in a crisis intervention setting.

  • Previous supervisory or program coordination experience.


Requirements



  • Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license.

  • Must have a motor vehicle for independent transportation with active insurance.

  • Must pass an FBI/LE and Abuse/Neglect registry background check.

Work Environment


This position operates in an extremely busy professional office. Requires regular interaction with professionals in a fast paced, trauma-informed environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.

  • Regularly required to speak and hear to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues.
     



  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or reach for items.
     



  • Required to have close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, read materials, and operate a computer.
     



  • Occasionally required to lift office products or supplies weighing up to twenty pounds.
     



Compensation & Benefits


This is a part-time, non-exempt position, scheduled for 20 hours per week at a rate of $20 per hour. While some scheduling flexibility may be possible, the regular base hours are:



Monday: 2:00pm - 6:00pm


Tuesday: 2:00pm-6:00pm (with the expectation to attend SART from 9:00–10:00 AM on the first Tuesday of each month)
Wednesday: 2:00pm - 6:00pm


Thursday: 3:00pm - 7:00pm



Travel


Travel is required, all within Minnehaha, Lincoln, Turner, and McCook counties. Mileage reimbursement provided.
