Job Description

The University of Washington’s Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) is a Maternal-Child Health (MCH)-funded interdisciplinary training program. It operates as a part of the Clinical Training Unit (CTU). The CTU is a part of the Institute on Human Development and Disability (IHDD). The mission of the CTU is to serve as a center of excellence in the field of maternal and child health; to prepare future leaders, policy makers, clinicians, and researchers in the field of neurodevelopmental and related disabilities; to improve the quality of life for children with disabilities and their families; to serve as part of the public health team; and to provide ongoing continuing education and technical assistance to health care providers and others in the region.

LEND has an outstanding opportunity open for a Temporary LEND Self Advocate (Program Coordinator).

Self-Advocate is one of the positions in the LEND program and is defined by a person who has lived experience with developmental disabilities.

LEND Self Advocate Discipline duties and responsibilities:

LEND Seminars and Workshop Participation (60%):

• Attend the LEND seminars and workshops
• Foster and maintain relationships with community agencies and self-advocacy groups
• Contribute to LEND curriculum, seminar, workshops, and panels
• Provide documentation of activities for grant reports
• Perform related duties as required.

Mentoring and LEND Representation (40%):

• Provide mentoring to enrolled UW LEND self-advocate trainees
• Serve as self-advocate representative on UW LEND committee(s)
• Provide support and consultation to LEND Director and LEND Training Director


Minimum Qualifications:

High School graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience working for non-profit or advocacy or equivalent education/experience. Must have previous experience in a LEND program.



 

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$22.28 hourly

Pay Range Maximum:

$29.77 hourly
