About the Role
As a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) at Cladda Veterinary Emergency Hospital, you will be an integral part of our medical team, providing advanced nursing care in a fast-paced emergency setting. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes, and you will have access to cutting-edge technology to support high-quality care.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional nursing care to emergency and hospitalized patients.
- Triage incoming patients and assist with stabilization and critical care.
- Monitor anesthetized patients and assist in surgical and emergency procedures.
- Perform diagnostic procedures, including radiographs, bloodwork, cytology, and urinalysis.
- Utilize advanced medical equipment, including endoscopy, CT, and ultrasound.
- Maintain accurate patient records and communicate effectively with clients regarding patient status and treatment plans.
- Perform advanced technical skills, including but not limited to:
- Central line placement
- Nasogastric (NG) tube placement
- Urethral catheter placement
- Laceration repair and suturing
- Wound management and bandaging techniques
- Chest tube and feeding tube maintenance
- Additional training and mentorship will be provided for those looking to develop more advanced skills.
- Collaborate with veterinarians and support staff to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
- Assist in training new team members and ensuring adherence to hospital protocols.
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification in Virginia (or eligibility for licensure).
- Previous experience in emergency or specialty veterinary medicine preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
- Strong technical skills, including venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, and radiology.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for continuous learning, professional growth, and delivering outstanding patient care.
