JOB DESCRIPTION

The On-Call Licensed Veterinary Technician will interact with a wide variety of medical clients as well as general meetings and events clients in an array of professions. This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule in accordance with business needs. Scheduled hours can include working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed but scheduled in advance with availability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, reporting any violations and/or safety hazards.
• Venepuncture and catheter placement.
• Induction and monitoring of anesthesia
• Radiography
• Preparation of surgical packs, including sterilization
• Animal restraint and handling (including large animal)
• Stock and maintain medical supplies
• Prepare and clean rooms for events
• Lab/event support as needed
• Provide exceptional customer service to all guests of the facility
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Animal husbandry
• Administer medications as needed
• Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Must be a current Licensed Veterinary Technician
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Outlook required.
• Judgment, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.
• Represent the organization and its interests in a positive manner and treat its employees, former employees, board members, governmental and private entities, donors, suppliers, vendors, associations, and the public at large with the utmost respect and dignity.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
• Demonstrates passion, compassion, and professionalism at all times.
• Availability to work 12 months per year.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to sit, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and smell continually. Ability to stand, walk and reach frequently. Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Close vision required to see computer monitor, read documents, and operate copy and fax machine. Distance vision is required to drive an automobile if driving is a requirement of the job.
• Work environment is indoors and climate controlled. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
• Moderate noise levels as found in a business office with computer printers, households with TVs and dishwashers, and driving light traffic.
