Position   Overview

Serve   as a member of the Production Team in providing lighting operation and   maintenance services for the Walmart AMP, an 11,000 capacity Amphitheater   hosting world class concerts, special events, meetings, and in-house   productions.

  

  

Principal Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Serve as onsite Lighting Designer on shows and special events, as needed.
  • Plan and oversee maintenance, repair, cleaning, and upkeep of the lighting/spot equipment on the AMP Stage, Dressing Rooms, and FOH Areas.
  • Communicate effectively across   all functional departments, specifically Tour Management, Walton Arts Center  / Walmart AMP Production, and onsite contractors (Vista Productions).
  • Coordinate with Production   Department, Tour Production, Contractors, and WAC/AMP IT Department team   regarding lighting operation for shows and events at the Walmart AMP.
  • Coordinate regarding all AMP specific equipment training for stagehands, including show lighting   operation, personnel lift, and fall arrest training.
  • Cooperate in the planning, organizing and/or supervising of lighting equipment load-ins, strikes, and   maintenance calls.
  • Be a reliable and conscientious team member
  • Represent Walton Arts   Center / Walmart AMP at both on and off-site events, as requested.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with teammates, fellow staff members from other departments, vendors, patrons, and tenants of leased spaces.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor. 
  • Maintain security and safety requirements as defined by operations guidelines. 
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

General Technical

  • Assist in the planning and execution of all technical aspects of AMP events.
  • Assist in ensuring safe working conditions, including preventative maintenance as needed, of all equipment   and the periodic training and evaluation of local crews.
  • Ensure orderly maintenance of stage and backstage areas.
  • Maintain lighting equipment, parts, and supply inventories.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Fully versed in the set-up, operation, and maintenance of Walmart AMP theatrical lighting systems.
  • Safety first methods of rigging, light operation, climbing and fall protection.
  • Working knowledge of theatrical lighting systems.
  • Coordinate with visiting artists and local contractors to assure all needs are met, based on Walmart AMP policies and capabilities.
  • Serve as the onsite production manager and/or venue rep at all assigned shows.
  • Oversee asset management, inventory and maintenance of all equipment and recommend replacement/repair as needed.
  • Act as the Walmart AMP technical representative as required.
  • Must have a strong understanding of touring needs.
  • Must be able to read and understand theatrical ground plans and lighting designs.
  • Basic construction, tools and machinery skills and maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of signal flow and conversion.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of touring lighting systems including moving heads, wash, follow me, and spotlights.
  • Knowledge of stage rigging practices.
  • Basic technical theatre knowledge.
  • Basic knowledge of GrandMA, Hog, and Obsidian stage lighting systems, a plus.
  • Basic Understanding of network nodes and signal flow, preferred.
  • Must be comfortable working in a moderate to loud show environment with thousands of guests in attendance

Education, Training, Traits

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Comfortable with consistently adhering to the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to interact with many different types of people.
  • An on-going desire to learn and improve.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. 
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards

Work Experience

  • 2 - 5 years of professional theatrical production experience, required.
  • Minimum of 1-year lighting experience, preferred.

Physical 

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 - 100 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working climbing and working at heights, when required.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly (on two-way radio and by telephone).
  • Must have a working cell phone and be willing to install basic applications and be willing to use it for work purposes.
  • Must be able to endure sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to endure standing or walking for extended periods of time on various surfaces such as concrete, grass, and inclined surfaces. 
  • Must be able to endure outdoor elements including cold, heat, wind, and/or precipitation.
  • Must be able to work in large, crowded environments, with flashing lights, loud music and noises, pyrotechnics, and cannons as part of shows and events
