Livestrong Lead Instructor (Part-Time Hourly)

The LIVESTRONG Lead is responsible for the overall success of the LIVESTRONG program including the operational and facilitation of the program. The LIVESTRONG Lead Instructor is a relationship builder, and with the ability to guide fellow LIVESTRONG instructors in facilitating YMCA fitness classes geared towards cancer survivors in a safe, enjoyable and positive environment.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• CPR, First Aid, AED certified
• Able to complete LIVESTRONG Instructor certification in one of the following certifications: Strength & Conditioning Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor or YMCA recognized nation certification in group fitness or personal training
• Able to develop programs geared towards the personal needs/interests of members
• Able to develop a positive work environment and relationships with staff & program participants
• At least one year of experience teaching one year of group wellness classes and one year of supervisory or program development experience preferred

Job Responsibilities:

• Leads energizing and safe small group wellness and exercise classes while addressing the whole person's well-being, including spirit, mind, and body when needed.
• Ensures safety of class participants by following group fitness best practices & ensures all fitness equipment is available prior to classes.
• Reports any accidents, incidents, concerns or broken equipment to supervisor immediately.
• Completes participant interviews and creation of the program design.
• Completes any necessary paperwork for the program and collects data from the program participants.
• Promotes, markets and assists with fundraising for the LIVESTRONG program
• Positively models the YMCA's core values, mission statement and relationship building skills in all interactions.
• Attends staff trainings and/or events and maintains necessary certifications relevant to the position
• Perform all other duties assigned

Schedule: Varies; mornings, evenings, weekends--let us know your availability!

Job Type: Part-Time Hourly

Pay: $26.00 per hour. Plus, access to YMCA facilities (gym, pool ect.) for all YMCA employees, Employee Assistance Program, and Sick Leave.
