Job Description - Maintenance, General Utilities (1st Shift)



 


Job summary


The General Utility Maintenance worker installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in the facility by performing the following duties:


Responsibilities



  • Perform work provided in Work Order format from Maintenance Department

  • Makes suggestions for improvements and preventive maintenance reporting

  • Visually inspects, tests and repairs machinery and equipment as scheduled

  • Observes machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose or repair machine.

  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.

  • Installs and repairs electrical equipment, pipe and plumbing systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment

  • Knowledge of 24VDC-48VDC, 110VAC, 208VAC, 220VAC, 277VAC, and 480VAC electrical systems

  • Leave the site clean after completing a job or service call

  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment, including drywall repair and painting

  • Moves furniture and equipment

  • Secures building for closure

  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

  • Set up meeting rooms as required, assist in housekeeping duties when needed

  • Remove Snow and Ice from sidewalks during icing conditions / inclement weather

  • Performs a variety of semi-skilled troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance duties related to facilities and buildings

  • Provide effective communications between other department and supervisors to support the company’s goals

  • Comply with Bath Fitter Manufacturing’s health and safety standards

  • Be fully engaged in the Continuous Improvement programs

  • Ability to accept responsibility of results and be held accountable

  • Regular and reliable attendance is a must

  • Abide by all Bath Fitter policies and procedures

  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures

  • Perform other duties assigned


Qualifications


To perform this successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals and with disabilities to perform the essential Ability to work with minimal supervision.


Education and/or Experience – High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six to twelve months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience



  • Ability to read and understand blueprints

  • Ability to lay out projects and fabricate as needed

  • Ability to travel if needed

  • Ability to use a tape measure and other measuring devices

  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and drive powered industrial vehicles such as forklifts, scrubbers, etc.

  • General understanding of electric motors, water pumps, and vacuum pumps

  • Knowledge in 260 volt and 480-volt circuits, ability to understand electrical wiring schematics; At least two years’ experience stick welding and mig welding

  • Knowledge of general carpentry and repair

  • Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure

  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
