Position

We are hiring a Male Specimen Collector (Mobile) to support our Draper operations. You’ll serve as a frontline representative of the lab and play a key role in supporting accurate, timely diagnostics.

Schedule:

  • Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Thursday: 5:30 AM – 8:30 AM (includes observed collections from 6:15–7:30 AM)
  • Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Total: ~20 hours per week, with potential for additional hours

W2 hourly employees receive an 8% shift differential for hours worked between 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m., as well as for all hours worked on Saturdays and Sundays.

Work Location: Draper, UT (local travel required)
Job Type: Part-Time, W2
Salary: $17–20/hour (DOE)
Ideal Start Date: July 2025

Description

This is a patient-facing role that requires professionalism, discretion, and reliability.
Due to privacy requirements for directly observed urine collections, this position is restricted to male applicants under a bona fide occupational qualification (BFOQ) exception.¹

Responsibilities:

  • Travel between patient sites and clinics using a company-provided vehicle during working hours
  • Perform directly observed urine collections for male patients following strict protocol and privacy standards
  • Ensure all specimens are labeled accurately and transported securely
  • Enter patient and specimen data into the lab’s LIS (Laboratory Information System)
  • Prepare and maintain chain-of-custody documentation and route logs
  • Provide responsive communication to dispatch, supervisors, and clinical staff
  • Manage supplies (collection kits, PPE, transport bags) and request replenishment when needed
  • Handle unexpected issues during collection or transport professionally and promptly
  • Perform daily vehicle readiness checks (cleanliness, fuel, condition)
  • Assist with overflow, emergency collections, or adjusted routing as needed
  • Represent the company with courtesy, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times
  • Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and internal infection control policies
  • Attend periodic compliance training and check-ins with supervisors
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (company vehicle provided during working hours)
  • At least 1 year of experience preferred in delivery driving, medical transport, or recently certified patient-facing healthcare role (e.g., MA, EMT, CNA)
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs and enter/exit a vehicle frequently
  • Must have personal liability auto insurance

Education:

  • Certification in phlebotomy, CNA, or a related field is a plus, but not required

All positions require time zone awareness, including the impact of daylight saving time, as we are a multi-state organization with teams and partners across different U.S. time zones. Clear communication and timely coordination are essential.

¹ BFOQ Note: Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ) permits sex-based hiring when gender is reasonably necessary to the job. This applies to directly observed collections, which must be performed by a collector of the same sex to maintain patient privacy and regulatory compliance.

Application Deadline: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the position may be filled before any stated deadline.

Pre-Employment Notice
Some positions require a background check and/or pre-employment screening as a condition of employment. These steps are conducted only after a conditional offer is made.

For example, all Phlebotomy and Collector roles require a post-offer drug screening and a TSpot tuberculosis test. These steps are managed through our HRIS system and are part of onboarding, not the application process.

No health-related or criminal history information is collected during the application stage. This notice is for informational purposes only and does not constitute a job offer.

Employment Relationship
Employment with Rocky Mountain Laboratories is at-will. This means either the employee or the company may end the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice, in accordance with applicable laws. Nothing in this posting or in future communications alters that relationship.

Equal Opportunity Employer Statement
Rocky Mountain Laboratories is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity in its workforce. We comply with all applicable federal and state laws and prohibit discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, color, national origin, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran status, disability, or genetic information.

We strongly encourage individuals from historically underrepresented groups to apply. If you require a reasonable accommodation during the application process, we are happy to provide assistance.

E-Verify & Background Check
Rocky Mountain Laboratories participates in E-Verify.
Background checks are conducted only after a conditional offer has been made. These apply to roles including but not limited to management, toxicology, client/patient-facing positions, and those involving a company vehicle. Continued employment is contingent on the outcome of the background check.

While we appreciate interest from staffing agencies, Rocky Mountain Laboratories does not currently partner with external agencies. Resumes submitted unsolicited will not be considered, and no fees will be paid.
