The Shift Supervisor is responsible for oversight of rubber injection molding manufacturing operations and direct supervision of press operators throughout assigned shift so that the manufacturing department can sustain profitability.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Overall responsibility for leading a shift of press operators up to 25 employees.
· Maintains presence on manufacturing floor to support and assist team members.
· Ensures press operators are properly trained and meet the expectations of their roles.
· Assignment of press operators to presses at start of and during shift according to priorities.
· Ensure a detailed transition (including detailed shift summary) with on coming and off going shift supervisor and shift leads.
· Complete maintenance requests/work orders for any needed maintenance.
· In-Process trouble shooting.
· Perform minor mold and equipment/press maintenance, troubleshooting and cleaning.
· Assignment, delivery and return of batches of rubber to/from presses.
· Visual quality inspection of in process (approximately every hour).
· Ensure operators maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
· Ensuring that team has completed all required production tracking documentation.
· Responsible for following all safety procedures and for use of required PPE at all times.
· A minimum of 3 years' experience leading a shift/team, preferable in manufacturing.
· Ability to communicate through written and verbal communication to the team.
· Ability to maintain a teamwork mentality to produce quality parts in a safe and efficient environment.
· Must be aware of loss of profit related to down time and prioritize work accordingly.
· Ability to pull parts out of machine, sort and trim parts, maintain/repair molds, and support equipment.
· Must be aware of loss of profit related to down time and non-conforming parts and prioritize work accordingly.
· A minimum of 3 years’ experience with Troubleshooting/Root Cause Analysis.
· Must be able to obtain a forklift license.
· Must be able to work off-shift and occasional weekends.
· Proficiency in basic shop tools is necessary.
Work Conditions:· Ability to use fine motor skills to pull parts out of machine, sort and trim parts, maintain/repair molds and support equipment.· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Team lift up to 100 lbs.· Must be able to do visual inspection for quality issues and be able to differentiate between conforming and non-conforming items.· May require standing for up to 10 hours.· Must be able to work in and around machines that produce heat.· Employee is required to walk between workstations and through the work area to move/deliver and obtain items in order to complete the job.· Employee must use hands, fingers, to handle, feel, twist, pull, reach with hands and arms, climb up and down ladders or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and smell.· Ability to bend at the waist several times per day.· Exposure to mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles that may affect respiratory system, eyes, or the skin.
