SCHEDULE: Schedule based on client and therapist availability.

PAY RATE: $42.50/hour

JOB SUMMARY: The Massage Therapist will provide therapeutic and remedial massage services to MJCC Members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These examples represent the essential functions of the position. They are not, however, inclusive of all the duties the position may be assigned to perform.)

• Provide massage services to MJCC Members and guests; use safe, appropriate and effective massage techniques.  Explain procedures and apply techniques appropriate to client needs and preferences; observe member reaction and modify as necessary.
• Assess client’s physical condition prior to each session; modify techniques as necessary.  
• Maintain associated records as required.
• Maintain client confidentiality and sensitivity to age and gender related issues.  Report immediately to the Fitness Director any unusual client interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position is qualifying. This would typically include:

• Graduation from an accredited school of massage, 
• Current licensure in the State of Oregon, and 
• Six months’ experience providing therapeutic massage services.  
• Certification in First Aid and CPR.

Knowledge: Knowledge of safe massage techniques and practices.  Knowledge of muscle groups, anatomy and body mechanics.

Ability: Ability to project a positive, professional image; ability to build relationships with customers and maintain proper professional boundaries; ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing; ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions; ability to work effectively with co-workers in a diverse workforce; ability to respond appropriately to question/concerns from other employees and the public; ability to work independently and make decisions within established procedures; ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS + WORKING CONDITIONS: Duties are performed in a massage therapy room using a massage table or a chair. The work will typically involve bending, pushing, pulling, and gripping while exerting a therapeutic amount of pressure, and requires physical stamina sufficient to perform duties for up to one hour without resting.
