Massage Therapist - Part Time

Compass Government Solutions seeks an experienced Licensed Massage Therapist to provide part time services to Optimize the Human Weapon System (OHWS) program at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.

The Message Therapist (MT) shall provide massage therapy sessions in the prehabilitation room on a regular basis, such that each pilot will receive one (1) hour of massage therapy every two (2) months. These sessions shall be with individual pilots.

Every fighter pilot will have varying degrees of need with regard to massage therapy. The MT will optimize scheduling to maximize the benefit to the fighter pilots involved. The MT will determine the optimal time for each therapy visit and ensure as many of the fighter pilots as practical receive therapy. This will involve assessing the greatest needs and implementing a schedule strategy to best meet the needs for massage therapy focusing on neck and back pain.

The MT shall continually evaluate all pilots, beginning with an initial evaluation within ninety (90) calendar days of contract start, ongoing evaluations performed at least every six (6) months thereafter for each pilot, and more frequently for those pilots with ongoing neck or back issues. The MT shall communicate with the Strength and Conditioning Coach as required for pilots with specific concerns to address problem areas and adapt each pilot’s massage therapy to their individual needs. The MT shall comply with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations, professional code of ethics, Air Force guidance, DoD guidance, and Message Therapist practice standards

Job Requirements.

• Provide common massage therapy techniques, including longitudinal gliding, kneading, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, deep transverse frictions, compression massage, cross-fiber massage, Swedish massage, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation stretches.
• Address specific concerns for each pilot in regards to neck and back pain, range of motion, posture, flexibility, soreness, and muscle tightness. 
• Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology.
• Knowledge of contraindications and precautions for massage therapy.

• Ability to assess client needs and develop individualized treatment plans

• MT will have graduated from an accredited Massage Therapy certification program. 
• Current and unrestricted license or certification from the U.S. jurisdiction where services are provided (Maryland).
• 2+ years of experience as a Massage Therapist in elite level athletic communities, such as with Special Operations Forces or Division I collegiate, Olympic, or professional spots athletes. 
• Possess current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
