Job Title: Materials Handler Technician

Department: Central Services

Reports To: Materials Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours: 24-28/week 

Shift: Days, with a rotating call schedule

WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR FCMC

Our Materials Handlers assists the Materials Manager with departmental receiving, shipping, distribution, and inventory. More specifically, these responsibilities include:

  • Verifying incoming shipments and checking the quantity and quality of supplies 
  • Assigning numbers to new stock items and keeping organized by adding them to the master file
  • Reordering supplies when they reach a minimum level
  • Working with the Business Office and Accounts Payable to generate purchase order forms to present to the CFO for approval
  • Assisting with an annual inventory count
  • Maintaining supply quality by rotating stock, checking to see if inventory is outdated, and replacing when necessary
  • Placing and filling requisition orders and delivering supplies
  • Preparing parcels for shipping by inspecting, weighing, and measuring packages
  • Determining charges and insurance rates
  • Attaching packing slips to incoming invoices, checking that the correct department is charged, and turning slips into Accounts Payable

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Relevant vocational or technical schooling is preferred
  • Clinical experience working with medical supplies is preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written, and reading skills in English
  • Computer skills, including data entry, is a must
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have basic math skills
  • Experience in shipping and receiving is preferred

Essential Job Functions:

  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Regularly required to use hands to handle, feel, and type on a keyboard
  • Occasionally required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands
  • This role requires moderate physical activity and requires handling average-weight objects up to 50 pounds and standing or walking for more than four hours per day
  • This role uses a video display terminal 50% of the time
  • Must comply with HIPAA and patient privacy
  • Must wear PPE when situations require

Work Environment:

  • FCMC operates 24 hours per day each day of the year: operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the patients
  • Potential exposure to blood, body tissue and fluids, contagious diseases, and hazardous waste
  • This work is performed under typical office conditions with a low noise level
  • May be required to work day or night
  • Involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment
  • Involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises
