Math and ELA Tutor

We’re hiring a skilled and dependable Math & ELA Tutor to support students in grades K–8, with the ability to assist high school students considered a strong plus. This is an in-person, part-time tutoring role working with students who need support in foundational math, reading comprehension, writing, and overall academic confidence.

Perfect for teachers, substitute teachers, education majors, student teachers, experienced tutors or anyone who enjoys working with younger learners and helping them grow.

Responsibilities

  Provide individualized math and ELA tutoring for students 

  
  


• 
  

  Break down concepts into clear, manageable steps to support understanding

  
  


• 
  

  Assist with homework, classwork review, writing support, and skill development

  
  


• 
  

  Build confidence through encouragement, goal-setting, and consistent guidance

  
  


• 
  

  Communicate student progress through session notes and occasional parent updates

  
  

Qualifications

• 
  

  Experience tutoring or teaching in math and ELA for K–8 students

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to support additional grade levels (especially high school) is a plus

  
  


• 
  

  Strong understanding of elementary and middle school curriculum standards

  
  


• 
  

  Reliable transportation for in-home sessions in Carlsbad, Oceanside, and nearby areas

  
  


• 
  

  Dependable, professional, and committed to student success

  
  


• 
  

  After-school availability (3–7pm); daytime availability is a bonus

  
  


• 
  

  Minimum 3-month commitment preferred

  Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in education or a related field preferred
