Roswell Park Care Network has a fantastic opportunity for a Medical Student at our Depew Dermatology location.  

JOB SUMMAY

The primary responsibility of the medical student MA is to prepare charts for upcoming patient appointments, obtain vitals, patient intake as directed, and to assist the providers during office hours so that patients are treated in a prompt, efficient and courteous manner.

• Completes chart prep 24-48 hours prior to patient appointment to ensure chart is complete with notes, pathology report, test results, medications, allergies, etc.
• Timely and accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
• Maintain confidentiality per policy and governing HIPAA laws
• Follow proper protocol for securing workstation when walking away
• Escorts patients to exam room, obtain vitals, updates patient history, reconciles medications, allergies, and any required quality data
• Provides patient with orders, education and medication instructions as directed by Provider
• Cleans and prepares exam rooms for each patient
• Empties hazardous waste receptacles when full
• Identify and properly label all specimen tubes for testing
• Follow up on Electronic Medical Record documents routed to him/her by the Providers
• Accurately and efficiently respond to tasks and triages received from providers and other office staff
• Must adhere to policies, procedures and regulations as outlined in the office policy and procedures manual
• Interact with fellow workers in a way that promotes a harmonious and cooperative working environment
• Assist provider with procedures as required.
• Monitor the refill line. Queue medication and create triage to provider.
• Monitor labs and pathologies received. Create triage and route to provider for review.
• Be expected to utilize spare time in work related activities which contribute to the clinic's needs
• Observe and document patient interactions in real time, including the patient's history, physical exam, and procedures. Document the results of lab, radiology and the time of patient care activities. Document patients visit per provider instructions.
• Organize, prepare, and edit patient health records in real time. Ensure Provider notes are accurate and timely. 

Requirements

 
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or G.E.D. 
• Enrolled in Medical School or recent graduate of Medical School
• Experience as NA, PCA, C.N.A, MA preferred.
• Prior Scribe experience a plus.
